Managed to pick up some kind of flu or cold or something friday. Friday and saturday it wasn’t too bad, just coughing and feeling bad. Today it decided to hit hard. Luckily I have nothing I had to do today, so I can lounge around and sleep and relax. Hopefully I will be over it tomorrow.

The weather has taken a turn for the spring/summer now. Nice to be able to walk the dogs again and not have to put on coats, etc. Not sure yet if my apple tree is going to produce any apples this year. It managed to start blooming right before all the snow hit last week, so lots of it’s flowers got frozen, folded, spindled and mutilated. It does seem to be producing more blooms now, so it might make some apples. Time will tell.
Managed to get over the flu I had monday or so. Thats the first time I have been sick in a long time. I guess being a hermit and working from home has some advantages. (Not being coughed on by strangers in this case).
Since I didn’t do much of anything last weekend I have a ton of around the house/yard stuff to do this coming weekend. The weather looks to be nice for it at least.
Just a note to those that are lucky enough to have tickets for tonights Denver sneak preview showing of Serenity: You lucky bastards better not give anything away to those of us that have to wait until September to see it. Thank you.
Yesterday was an action packed greyhound day. Got up and went over to Petsmart on 104th and I-25 for the monthly meet-n-greet. The store was kinda dead for some reason and kurt wasn’t happy at all about the thunderstorm that went through (he’s afraid of thunder and will hide in the bathroom at home during thunderstorms).
After getting back from that, there was a group of greyhound folks getting together out in Brush colorado. Seems a new foster dog out there got loose on Wed morning and there hasn’t been much sign of him since. Brush is about 1.5 hours away on I76 from denver. However, there isn’t any easy way to get from my place over to I76 I found. I finally managed to wind my way over there via 136th, but it wasn’t very fast or direct. There was a group of around 10 hounds and 15 people looking. We didn’t make any sightings of monty the greyhound, but we talked to a lot of people and asked them to look out for him. Hopefully he will turn up soon. ;(
Well, yesterday I heard from a friend that there was going to be another round of sneak preview showings of Serenity (the new firefly movie) on May 26th. I went over and tracked down the showing on movietickets.com and tried to order some tickets. At first it gave me a ‘we are having technical problems, should be fixed in an hour’, so I kept trying. Then it had a much more anoying failure mode: it would let me select the show, the number of tickets, enter my credit card info, review the order and then submit it. It would then dump me back on the front page with no evidence that it did anything. I tried using firefox, opera, opera pretending to be IE, konqueror, and mozilla. All failed the same way. So, I ended up with no tickets to show for many hours of submitting orders. Die movietickets.com, die.
Well, it was a greyhoundy weekend here.
Friday night I got a new foster dropped off here. He’s already got a adopter, but they can’t take him for a few weeks, so he’s going to stay here and hang out until they can get him. Meet jake:
Saturday was the annual meeting and Luncheon for Colorado Greyhound Companions. It was a nice time, got to talk to lots of folks I usually exchange email with, but don’t talk with in person. Very nice talk about dog health from Dr. Brenda Mccleland.
Sunday was the Colorado Greyhound Adoption Roofest gathering. Some nice vendors, lots of talks, some auction fundraisers and other exciting things. Monty the greyhound we were looking for a week or so ago was there (He was found safe and sound about 3 days ago). Also, they had the gilly girls dancing greyhounds. They were fun as always:
Once again I have been a slacker and not updated. 🙂
Managed to see Hitchikers Guide on wed night. We were going to go see Sin City, but they decided to cancel all the later than 7:30pm shows, I guess to have room for all the rabid Star wars fans waiting for the 12:05am shows of Episode III. Hitchikers Guide wasn’t really like the books, but it did have some amusing spots, so it wasn’t all wasted time.
Friday we have a very nice company dinner up in fort Collins at the Charco Broiler (which doesn’t seem to have it’s own web page). A nice old time steak place. Quite yummy.
Saturday (yesterday) was the Team America party up at L’s in Fort Collins. It was pretty amusing. Everyone brought Red, White, or Blue food and drinks. The movie was the “unrated” version and pretty amusing. The Southpark movie was better but it was still funny.
Today shall be a day of staying inside in the nice A/C and relaxing. Of course along with Laundry, Cleaning, etc.
Got some last minute visitors this weekend from NM. Nice to see them, but my sleep schedule is all messed up now. They didn’t get in until around 5am saturday morning.
Tomorrow will be a lovely BBQ here. Even though it’s looking like it might be rainy, it should be a fun time. Anyone reading this before 3pm sunday should come on by.
Managed to replace the burner in my grill and look at starting on the new bench mark II for the ren faire booth. I picked up a very nice jig saw the other day (It has a LASER!), however it has only two blades that came with it. One is just fine for what I need, but its about a 1/4″ too short, so it can’t cut through the board I need it to cut. The other one is very rough, and it jumps around when I try and use it to make the cuts I need. Clearly I need another blade, so I have put off the bench making for a few days. Hopefully I can get a few made next week and then take them out to faire next weekend. Faire starts the weekend after that.
Well, my guests left today and I was able to get somewhat caught up around the house.
The BBQ went pretty well. The weather was nasty, but there was a pretty good turnout of folks who hopefully had a nice time.
I managed to get my exo and Terminal fedora-extras packages a bit cleaned up today. There were some issues with them when I checked them in on friday. Luckily nothing that couldn’t be solved with a bit of tweaking.
Now time for a ton of laundry and some relaxing/movie viewing.
