PALE BLUE SORROW

Mid May carried me away.
I never felt that kind of malaise.
I was diffused, so distracted,
what a price to pay.

Well the days come one by one,
seems I'm never started and never done.
It's like a looking glass - been shattered.
Your luck is gone and reflection scattered.

I found a green meadow, wild flowers,
I laid and looked at the sky for hours.
The tall grass cradled me
and I closed my eyes and drifted.

I dreamed I spoke in a poet's voice
with water's sound of sweet hypnosis
but every word just dies away
as if no one's there to listen.

Strange how you just can't see
what all your hatred does to me,
but some things never change, no matter what you do.
Seems like you just can't win
when you're swept by the world's wind
but some things never change, no matter what you do.

Well, I just want some peace of mind
but there's a pale blue sorrow
that always shines its light on me.

One afternoon in a beat cafe
and old man sittin two booths away said,
"Hey boy inspiration, what a price to pay."

He said, "It's cheap at any price."
but I don't need that kind of advice
cause it comes and goes, waxes and wanes.
It tastes sweet, but its full of pain.

You see, I know that youth is fleet
and I won't cry, I can't cheat.
All these places empty of us
and all we do is turn to dust.

Yeah, life's a dance of shimmering fire,
Of certain death and mocking desire.
It's the failure of all creation -
the prayers said without salvation.
Cause the judgement sun rises from inside.
It burns with hate and it burns with pride.
You gotta blink hard to clear your eyes
cause mostly dead is still alive.

Strange how...

I just want some peace of mind
but there's a pale blue sorrow
that always shines it's light on me.

(Set down by the month of June,
sky as deep as the water's blue
and the thin grin of twilight
paints the world in pale blue light.)
