Welcome to the home page of the Territory of Avalon, one of the founding provinces of the Republic of Mylantium.

History
Avalon was settled by Austrolusian farmer emigres in the 18th century and existed as independent territory loosely affiliated with the Austrolusian crown until the formation of the Republic of Avalon in 1925. Under a succession of strong Governor-Generals, the Republic prospered, establishing a manufacturing and commercial base and maintaining lucrative ties to the continent of Austrolusia.

In 1981, the Republic formed a free-trade and political cooperative with the Territory of Bicardia. The union has since been strengthened by the formation of the Federal Republic of Mylantium, creating a common government over both territories.

Cities
Principal cities include the metropolitan ports of Arcadia (the territorial capital) and Bevelton; trade is also conducted through the smaller village port of Colchester. Other ocean-side villages include Damontown and Egdeburg. In the interior, the agricultural villages of Friz, Guelfton, Hickley, Jackston and Iamb Pentameter raise grain and cattle for export. (map)

Religion
A significant minority of the population adheres to the Orthodox Snake Handler Church. Temples are located in Arcadia, Bevelton, Damontown and Egdeburg. The High Orthodox Inquisitor of Snake Handlers makes his residence in Bevelton.

The Constitutional Convention that created the Republic of Mylantium was held in the territorial capital of Arcadia.

Politics
The Whig Party was organized in Arcadia in 1983 and merged with the Reactionary Liberal Party of Bicardia following the adoption of the Constitution of the Federal Republic. The Federalist Party was formed in 2004.
